dust if you must

Dust if you must, but wouldn’t it be better
To paint a picture, or write a letter,
Bake a cake, or plant a seed;
Ponder the difference between want and need?

Dust if you must, but there’s not much time,
With rivers to swim, and mountains to climb;
Music to hear, and books to read;
Friends to cherish, and life to lead.

Dust if you must, but the world’s out there
With the sun in your eyes, and the wind in your hair;

A flutter of snow, a shower of rain,
This day will not come around again.

Dust if you must, but bear in mind,
Old age will come and it’s not kind.

And when you go (and go you must)
You, yourself, will make more dust.

she did want to live and always had

“But North did not break his stride. ‘The current claims us all in the end,’ he called without turning. ‘If you want to live, you have to fight.’
[…]

The sky had gone dark. She couldn’t see the shore any longer, wasn’t even sure she was swimming in the right direction. If you want to live.

And wasn’t that the worst of it? She did. She did want to live and always had.”
Ninth House, Leigh Bardugo

“I know what happens next. He’s going to deliver the final blow. Lopping off my head. Stabbing through my heart. The strike that’s a kindness, really. After all, who wants to die slowly when you can die fast?

Me.

I don't want to die fast. I don’t want to die at all.”

Sunday low energy mood

This is my favourite iteration of the lo-fi girl. I could live in this image with this music all the time.

I love cooking reels, especially as I haven’t been doing a lot of cooking lately! The windowsill, plant, and dolsot pot are a dreamy combination.

latest roll of film

There’s something uniquely beautiful about picking an old hobby back up where you left off to find that no matter how your life has changed, it still feels the same.

“‘Finding yourself’ is not really how it works. You aren’t a ten-dollar bill in last winter’s coat pocket. You are also not lost. Your true self is right there, buried under cultural conditioning, other people’s opinions, and inaccurate conclusions you drew as a kid that became your beliefs about who you are. ‘Finding yourself’ is actually returning to yourself. An unlearning, an excavation, a remembering who you were before the world got its hands on you.”
