Mid-thigh length dresses/coats, flat shoes, tights—I’ll never get tired of that.

I’ve always loved that first photo—I don’t know what it is about it, but it’s one of my favourite, favourite fashion editorial images, ever. You can see more here.

Paul Cornoyer, Sidewalk Conversation, 1915

I am looking forward to New York,
and then I am looking forward to spring.
I have spent the past few months snowed-in, flipping through books with the intensity of Hermione Granger, writing pages upon pages, and cannot wait (four sleeps!) to be in my favourite place in the world—going to museums, taking ballet classes, and hopefully a box of Ladurée macarons... when I return (seventeen days later), I am hoping for less slush, more walks with my puppy, pink and white tulips, more ballet classes, and reading piles of books by choice instead of obligation...
(Doesn’t Paul Cornoyer’s painting capture exactly the kind of dappled light that autumn and winter are missing? Leaves on the trees, rich shades of green, soft sunlight. It makes me think of Easter, sidewalk chalk and pastel colours.)

New York, New York...

This time next week I will be in New York. I can think of little else. I will be there from the first to seventeenth of March, which is my longest stay yet! Already there are some amazing things planned, but I don’t want to write about them until they’ve happened. So, here are some of the photos I took on my 2011 trip—my only “regret” about my 2012 trip was that I didn’t use my cameras much (although I used Instagram a lot), so hopefully this will inspire me to take more pictures this year.

The National Ballet’s production of Romeo & Juliet was stunning beyond words (I went two nights in a row). The last two photos are me and my mum/favourite person in the world—it’s her birthday tomorrow ♥
